When planning an event, it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of adding big attractions. But before booking, it’s important to ask the right adventure ride rental questions. Whether you’re a professional event planner or organizing your very first festival, the right questions save money, ensure safety, and make sure the rides you choose actually fit your event. Event planners often have specific questions for adventure ride rentals to ensure safety and smooth operation—don’t hesitate to ask ours!
At ACP Entertainment, we’ve been part of more than 5,000 events over the past 17 years, and we’ve seen what works—and what doesn’t. Adventure rides aren’t always the right fit for every event, but when they are, they create unforgettable experiences. Our Adventure Rides include the Rock Climbing Wall, Face to Face Race climbing wall, Gyro Extreme, and three different Trackless Trains, including the prestigious Wattman Train. Learn more here.
Why Asking the Right Adventure Ride Rental Questions Matters
Not all adventure rides work for every event. The size of your crowd, the age range of your audience, your venue space, and your budget all play a role in choosing the right attractions. Skipping due diligence can lead to overspending, frustrated guests, or even unsafe conditions. Use an adventure ride rental checklist to make sure you’ve covered all the details from setup space to staffing needs.
Asking smart questions provides:
- Confidence that your rides are safe and properly inspected
- A rental package that aligns with your budget
- A better guest experience and smoother event flow
We’ve compiled a list of adventure ride rental FAQs at the end of this article to further help planners quickly find answers to common concerns.
Question 1: What Rides Work Best for My Event Size?
Knowing what to know before renting adventure rides can save you time, money, and prevent last-minute surprises at your event. Follow our booking adventure ride rentals guide to match rides to your event size, audience, and venue requirements.
Small Events (schools, church carnivals, community picnics)
Climbing walls and trackless trains are excellent fits. The climbing walls allow 2–3 climbers at once and are always crowd-pleasers, while trains can carry 18+ riders at a time. Pairing 1–3 inflatables with one or two adventure rides is often the winning combination.
Medium Events (corporate parties, mid-size festivals)
Most adventure rides work well here—trains, climbing walls, or the Gyro Extreme. For balance, event planners usually add a few carnival rides or inflatables alongside adventure rides.
Large Events (city festivals, fairs)
Adventure rides typically aren’t recommended at large events with 1,000 or more people. While a trackless train may work if there’s a closed, foot-traffic-free path, attractions like climbing walls and the Gyro Extreme have slower throughput and aren’t designed for very large crowds. Any of the rides can work, but expect low throughput.
Question 2: Which Rides Fit My Audience’s Age Range?
Kids & Families
Trackless trains are the standout choice in the adventure ride category. For younger kids, inflatables, mild carnival rides, and midway games are usually a better fit.
Teens & Young Adults
This age group loves the Gyro Extreme and climbing walls. The Face to Face Race adds a competitive twist with the participants looking at each other through a plexiglass wall. The Rock Wall is perfect for group challenges of up to 3 climbers at once.
Adults & Mixed Crowds
Adventure rides can be used by adults, but they often gravitate toward larger carnival rides like the Ferris Wheel or family rides such as the Ballistic Swing.
Choosing the right adventure ride rentals depends on your audience, event size, and available space. What will you choose for your event? Don’t sweat it if you’re still not sure. Keep reading this article and/or call one of our event specialists to help you decide.
Question 3: What Safety Standards and Insurance Are in Place?
Be sure to ask all necessary safety questions for adventure ride rentals, including inspection schedules and certified operators. At ACP Entertainment, safety is always our top priority. Every ride is inspected before each use and again after returning to our shop. We also employ multiple NAARSO-certified inspectors to ensure compliance and safety.
Event planners should also check with local municipalities about required permits, since ACP Entertainment does not pull permits on behalf of clients for their specific events.
Question 4: What Are the Space and Power Requirements?
Always verify the space and power needs for adventure ride rentals before confirming your booking.
Each ride has unique needs:
- Trackless Trains: Require flat, smooth surfaces with no hills or heavy foot traffic. Streets must be closed to vehicles if used on roads. Wattman and Carnival Trains run on batteries for 6–8 hours, while the Classic Train runs on gas and is for outdoor use only.
- Rock Climbing Wall & Face to Face Race: Require about 60 feet of length, clearance from trees and powerlines, and room for the setup truck. The Face to Face Race also needs a power source for its lights (optional).
- Gyro Extreme: Needs just a 10×10 flat area and power within 100 feet, making it one of the easiest rides to place.
Question 5: How Much Do Adventure Ride Rentals Cost?
Understanding the cost of adventure ride rentals upfront will help you stay within budget while still booking your dream attractions. Adventure rides typically range from $1,600 to $2,250 for a 4-hour rental, plus travel fees. All rentals include trained staff to operate the attraction.
Factors that influence cost include:
- The specific ride chosen
- Duration of the rental
- Event location
- The best approach is to come prepared with your budget, date, event length, and location—we’ll help create a plan that works within your goals.
Question 6: How Do You Handle Weather and Emergencies?
Most rides can operate in light rain, but heavier rain or lightning requires shutdown for safety. Lightning delays last at least 15 minutes from the last strike.
If weather prevents setup before arrival, ACP will reschedule the event within 90 days at no extra charge, with deposits transferring. We recommend securing an indoor backup option when possible, as some rides (like battery-powered trains) can operate indoors.
Bonus Question: What Support Do You Provide on Event Day?
When you book adventure rides with ACP, you’re not just getting the equipment—you’re getting a full-service team. We handle delivery, setup, operation, and teardown, with staff trained to keep safety first while maximizing guest fun.
