Carnival Games as Icebreakers: Bringing Guests Together Instantly

Carnival Games as Icebreakers: Bringing Guests Together Instantly

Carnival games are great tools for putting your party guests at ease. These fun activities grab attendees right away by offering something easy and familiar to do the moment they arrive. Instead of awkwardly standing around or checking their phones, people jump into play, laugh together, and naturally start conversations. That early energy shift sets the tone, making it a great time from beginning to end.

carnival game headerFrom corporate picnics to school carnivals and community festivals, carnival games are the initiator to help guests relax and engage without pressure. A quick ring toss or fish pond game instantly breaks down barriers and creates shared moments. At a corporate picnic, a ring toss station often turns into a cheering section as coworkers attempt to win, rooting for (and sometimes against) each other. For a person organizing a group of boys and girls, a basketball booth or balloon darts draws parents and kids together within minutes. Add a prize table or some other DIY carnival games, and you’ve got the makings for a memorable, fun time.

If you’re exploring ideas to spark interaction quickly, the classic game ideas on ACP Entertainment’s carnival games page offer simple, proven ways to get people smiling and mingling from the start.

Why Carnival Games Make Perfect Icebreakers

Engaging your guests is no cake walk. Carnival games that are made free to your guests to play are great icebreakers because they remove guest uncertainty and invite immediate participation. Your audience is guaranteed to walk away entertained, whether they’re grabbing a football or participating in a milk bottle throw.

Importantly, your guests won’t need instructions to start enjoying the fun. They already understand the rules of these games, which makes jumping into the booth feel comfortable and low-pressure.

kids playing clowning aroundIf you’re wondering what makes carnival games such ideal ways to break the ice, consider these fun facts to spark your ideas. Carnival games:

  • Are easy to understand, even for first-time guests.
  • Offer familiar formats that feel nostalgic and welcoming.
  • Have quick play cycles that keep lines moving.
  • Foster a balance of light competition and shared cheering.
  • Are inclusive for kids, adults, boys and girls, and mixed-age groups.

Unlike more structured icebreaker activities, cool carnival games allow your guests to interact at their own pace while still feeling part of the crowd.

Fun Ideas for Icebreaker Carnival Games

The best icebreaker games depend on the type of activity and the mix of guests attending. Each event, from a summer camp open house to a church picnic, requires careful planning that can bring the fun or build the kind of memories you don’t want. Here are some good examples and ideas for catching and keeping partygoers.

School Carnivals And Family Events

Carnival games work exceptionally well for families because they are simple, colorful, and welcoming to all ages.

Some ideas include games like ring toss, the lucky ducky duck pond, or ball games like roller bowler, which encourage boys and girls, parents and kids, coworkers, or any other type of guests to play side by side. Everyone feels included, and conversations start naturally as families take turns and celebrate small wins together.

At a school carnival, a kiddie high striker often becomes the first stop for younger children. Hole -in-one-golf at a church gathering or other group party tends to draw older siblings and parents who want to test their aim.

Corporate Parties And Team-Building Fun

Carnival games help corporate gatherings feel more relaxed and social without the awkwardness of “forced fun” interactions.

An assortment of games like corn hole, giant carnival games, or a basketball toss game invites friendly competition and group cheering. Coworkers who do not usually interact find themselves laughing together after a close shot or near miss.

At a company picnic, a basketball game can quickly turn into a shared moment as departments cheer each other on and joke about who should take the next shot.

Community Festivals And Large Gatherings

Larger parties may also benefit from having multiple carnival games available to play. However, for larger group gatherings and festivals, we recommend our midway carnival game trailers.

Midway-style setups give guests options. People decide on their favorites, circulate, watch others play, and jump in when they feel comfortable. Strangers become teammates or friendly rivals within minutes.

corporate event game

Recommended icebreaker games by type of activity:

Party Type Games That Encourage Interaction
School carnivals Ring toss, duck pond, balloon darts, horseshoes
Family gatherings Ring a bottle toss, balloon darts, duck pond, skee ball
Corporate picnics Mega carnival games, hi striker, mini golf
Community festivals Midway game trailers such as Water Race or Jungle Chase
Church activities Mini golf, wiffle ball toss, mega fish bowl toss

How Carnival Games Encourage Guest Interaction

Carnival games encourage interaction by creating shared moments and natural conversation starters.

Instead of sitting at separate tables, guests gather around game stations. They comment on each other’s throws. They cheer for success. They laugh at near misses. It’s hilarious fun whether you win or lose.

Common conversation sparks you’ll hear:

  • “Nice shot, try again.”
  • “You were so close.”
  • “Who taught you how to throw?”
  • “I bet I could beat your score.”

Prizes are a great add-on option as well. Prizes add to the excitement, but the real value comes from the shared experience. Even guests who do not win walk away smiling and talking.

Fun and Creative Ways To Smash Weekend Woes with Carnival Games

Carnival games can do more than fill space. When used intentionally, they can guide the flow of traffic and spark conversation.

girl throwing ball giant pong gameHere are some creative ways to use games for instant engagement:

  • Place games at the entrance so guests start playing as soon as they arrive.
  • Create casual mini-tournaments that reset throughout the event.
  • Pair games with themed music to build atmosphere around each station.

At a community fundraiser, planning games as the first activity helps guests warm up before speeches or raffles begin.

Tips For Maximizing Guest Engagement With Free Icebreaker Games

Some of the smallest planning choices can significantly increase guest participation. Our top tips for maximizing engagement include:

  • Place games in central, high-traffic areas.
  • Keep play time short so lines move quickly.
  • Encourage cheering and group play instead of solo turns.
  • Spread games out so crowds circulate naturally.
  • Use clear signage so guests know where to start.

When games feel easy to approach, more guests choose to join in.

The Nostalgia Factor: Digital Arcade Games Bringing Generations Together in Michigan

The Nostalgia Factor: Digital Arcade Games Bringing Generations Together in Michigan

Nostalgic digital arcade games in Michigan have a way of pulling people in before they even realize it. The moment a Pac-Man soundtrack chimes or the familiar glow of a classic stand-up arcade game flickers, you get an entire room leaning closer. These games turn strangers into teammates and bring out an excitement that surprises party-goers. For planners searching for an easy win, retro and modern digital arcade games deliver crowd energy that never fades.

Michigan retro arcade game rentals continue to grow because they offer something we rarely get elsewhere. They build a shared moment that works across generations. Coworkers, event goers, and students all find something familiar, something fun, and something worth talking about. Many people even rediscover the classic arcade games that shaped their childhood.

Why Nostalgia Works

Nostalgia takes people back to a moment when things felt simpler. For your party attendees, the mix of retro visuals and recognizable arcade gameplay pulls people in and gets conversations going. Kids love the colorful chaos. Adults love the memories. Grandparents love showing a game they mastered long before smartphones existed.

Retro arcade game rentals hit that sweet spot where generations can meet and interact. Games like Pac-Man, Galaga, Space Invaders, and NBA Jam remind people of weekend hangouts, mall arcades, pizza shop tournaments, and a night out with friends. Pool tables or pinball may bring back college or another favorite time in the lives of party-goers. When players see each other light up, the room shifts. The party will feel warmer, busier, and more connected.

Some of the top fun nostalgic triggers in these gatherings can include:Pacman Arcade Game

  • Sounds like 8-bit jingles and countdown timers.
  • Visuals with bright pixel art and traditional incandescent lights.
  • Lighthearted, exciting gaming competition.

A fun game can build a comfortable environment that gets people leaning in and cheering each other on. That’s why retro arcade game rentals take that energy further with classics and modern favorites that some attendees will instantly recognize.

Nostalgic Digital Arcade Games That We Still Love

Nostalgia can be a powerful trigger for camaraderie at your event. Some of the most nostalgic digital arcade games that your party attendees will remember are still the most requested rentals at local gatherings. They work well for special-occasion celebrations and help make birthdays or corporate events more fun, too.

80s Classics To Spark Memories

Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Centipede, and Galaga remain event favorites across the state. Remember the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? These classic arcade games built the foundation for modern gaming, so when attendees see them, they instinctively reach for the joystick. People recall their high scores and afternoons spent feeding quarters into arcade machines. The classics, like pinball machines or air hockey, give older generations something recognizable to teach younger players, which can instantly challenge, even as it bonds them together.

90s Favorites for Millennials and Gen Z

People who grew up in the 90s immediately gravitate toward NBA Jam, Dance Dance Revolution, and Mortal Kombat. These games create fast-paced action that pairs bright visuals with reactions that fill the room. They bring out the loudest cheers at school carnivals, college events, and corporate team-building nights. Younger players love the flash; older players enjoy reconnecting with the games that defined their childhood.

Modern Digital Spins with Retro Appeal

Some of today’s most popular digital arcades merge old concepts with new tech. Modern digital arcade rentals include multiplayer touchscreens, deluxe racing pods, and updated versions of timeless titles. These experiences bridge generations by blending the nostalgia of classic gameplay with graphics and features that feel current. Some planners also mix in our wide selection of virtual reality games for groups seeking a more immersive adventure.

Classic vs. Modern Appeal by Age Group

Game Style Example Titles Appeal To Why It Works
Classic 80s Pac-Man, Galaga, Donkey Kong, Centipede, Street Fighter Adults and older party-goers Recognizable sounds, simple controls
90s Hits NBA Jam, DDR, Mortal Kombat Millennials and Gen Z Fast action and social energy
Modern Retro-Inspired 3D Pong, Pixel Play, air hockey, racing games All ages Nostalgia with smoother graphics and updated features

How Digital Arcades Bring Communities Together

Digital arcades create an environment that resembles a carnival floor. Groups gather around, cheer each other on, and exchange tips, whether they know each other or not. Parents love watching their children discover the games they grew up with. Grandparents step in to explain the tricks of Pac-Man or Frogger. Community members who barely exchanged a word earlier suddenly find themselves celebrating together.

For corporate or fundraising events, digital arcades serve as the perfect icebreaker. People bond faster when they’re laughing, losing, or celebrating a new high score. The energy feels natural and welcoming.

Events Where Digital Arcade Nostalgia Shines

Nostalgia can bring people together in ways few other experiences can. The nostalgic games your attendees love can create a shared energy that makes people feel connected the moment they start playing.

The mix of familiar gameplay and modern digital features gives groups of all ages an easy way to interact and enjoy the experience together.

School Carnivals and Family Nights

Digital arcades bring together students and staff in a way that feels organic and welcoming for everyone involved. The games are easy to learn and offer a visually appealing experience that appeals to a wide range of ages.

Corporate Parties and Team-Building

Companies see better participation when activities feel relaxed and universally appealing. Digital arcades break the ice and create steady interaction among attendees, which can keep the event lively from the start.

Community Festivals and Fundraisers

These games easily draw crowds. They also create opportunities for friendly competitions that raise revenue and keep people engaged longer.

Tips for Making Arcade Games a Hit at Your Event

When carefully choreographed, the arcade games people love can generate lots of excitement. A few thoughtful choices can help these games stand out and keep people engaged throughout your event.

  • Place machines in central gathering spots so your foot traffic stays strong and consistent.

  • Offer small prizes for the highest scores to boost crowd excitement.

  • Create tournament brackets to keep your guests interacting.

  • Balance classic games with more modern digital options to appeal to multiple generations.

Once you have your plan in place, the next step is choosing a partner who can bring the right arcade options to your event.

Dealer or DIY? Staffing Options for Casino Party Game Rentals in Michigan

Dealer or DIY? Staffing Options for Casino Party Game Rentals in Michigan

Looking to host an unforgettable casino night in Michigan? The biggest decision you’ll face isn’t which game to play; it’s whether you want professional dealers running the tables or prefer a do-it-yourself setup. Your staffing choice shapes everything from game flow to guest experience. ACP Entertainment’s casino party rentals help Michigan event and party hosts find the perfect fit for their big night, whether that means full-service dealers or a hands-on, DIY approach.

The Role Of Staffing In A Michigan Casino Party Experience

christmas casino event

Staffing makes or breaks the casino experience. Dealers keep the action moving, ensure fairness, and create the high-energy atmosphere guests expect at big Michigan events like the Holland Tulip Festival or a Detroit corporate holiday party. If you skip the staffing plan, even the best poker table can fall flat.

Why staffing matters:

• Keeps gameplay organized and engaging.

• Reduces host stress so you can mingle and enjoy.

• Brings authenticity to the casino theme.

• Prevents downtime between rounds.

Professional Casino Party Dealers: Pros and Cons

How you run your casino games sets the entire mood for the night. For hosts who want that authentic, high-energy feel, professional dealers offer skill and showmanship.

What Professional Dealers Bring to the Table

Professional dealers can make your casino night feel like the MGM Grand right in your Michigan venue. They bring experience, energy, and personality.

Expect:

• Smooth game pacing and clear rules.

• Authentic Vegas-style interaction.

• Stress-free hosting with consistent gameplay.

• Fairness and professionalism that keep guests happy.

When Hiring Dealers Makes the Most Sense

  • Corporate events or fundraisers where polish matters.
  • Large-scale gatherings with multiple tables.
  • Weddings or festivals where guests move between tables throughout the night.

Possible Drawbacks to Consider

Factor Professional Dealers DIY Option
Cost Higher due to staffing fees Lower overall
Game Quality Consistent and polished Varies by guest experience
Setup Effort Minimal for host More time and prep needed
Authenticity High with trained dealers Moderate to low depending on volunteer dealers

DIY Casino Party Game Rentals: Pros and Cons

Of course, not every event needs a polished dealer behind every table. Some hosts prefer to keep things casual and run the games themselves for a more personal touch.

Poker tables at casino night

Why DIY Appeals to Some Planners
DIY casino parties are popular for smaller Michigan get-togethers such as backyard poker nights or community fundraisers in Grand Rapids or Muskegon. They’re a fun, flexible way to host your own casino night games without the need for professional staff.

Advantages:

• Cost-effective for tight budgets.

• Allows guests to take turns dealing.

• Great for casual, familiar groups.

• Flexible setup times and table choices.

When DIY Can Fall Short:

Without trained dealers, gameplay can slow down and rule confusion can creep in, especially after the snack bar opens.

Five signs DIY might work for your event:

• You’re hosting fewer than 25 guests.

• Most everyone knows basic casino rules.

• You want a relaxed, social vibe without tight time tables.

• You have volunteers ready to manage tables.

• Your focus is organizing the event, not relaxing and enjoying the event for yourself.

Why a Festival Needs a Main Attraction

Festivals thrive when they have one main attraction. It gives guests something to rally around and talk about long after the event is over.

A mechanical bull may not be a Ferris wheel (which we also have available for rent), but for small and mid-size festivals, it can absolutely serve as the star of the show. Why?

  • It creates hilarious, can’t-stop-watching moments.
  • People love the challenge of hanging on (most adults last under 10 seconds, kids about 20).
  • It draws crowds, even from those who don’t want to ride — spectators have just as much fun.
  • High throughput for maximum fun

Why a Mechanical Rodeo Bull Works So Well

A mechanical bull checks every box when it comes to unique festival entertainment ideas. It’s thrilling for riders, yet just as fun for the audience.

  • Fun: Every rider leaves laughing, whether they lasted three seconds or twenty.
  • Safe: Our bulls feature soft heads, inflatable landing mat that surrounds the bull, and trained operators.
  • Inclusive: Kids, teens, and adults all love the challenge.
  • Memorable: It’s one of those interactive festival ride rentals that sticks in people’s minds.

Must-Ask Adventure Ride Rental Questions Before Booking Your Event

Must-Ask Adventure Ride Rental Questions Before Booking Your Event

When planning an event, it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of adding big attractions. But before booking, it’s important to ask the right adventure ride rental questions. Whether you’re a professional event planner or organizing your very first festival, the right questions save money, ensure safety, and make sure the rides you choose actually fit your event. Event planners often have specific questions for adventure ride rentals to ensure safety and smooth operation—don’t hesitate to ask ours!

people riding in train ride

At ACP Entertainment, we’ve been part of more than 5,000 events over the past 17 years, and we’ve seen what works—and what doesn’t. Adventure rides aren’t always the right fit for every event, but when they are, they create unforgettable experiences. Our Adventure Rides include the Rock Climbing Wall, Face to Face Race climbing wall, Gyro Extreme, and three different Trackless Trains, including the prestigious Wattman Train. Learn more here.

Why Asking the Right Adventure Ride Rental Questions Matters

Not all adventure rides work for every event. The size of your crowd, the age range of your audience, your venue space, and your budget all play a role in choosing the right attractions. Skipping due diligence can lead to overspending, frustrated guests, or even unsafe conditions. Use an adventure ride rental checklist to make sure you’ve covered all the details from setup space to staffing needs.

Asking smart questions provides:rock climbing wall and gyro extreme rides

  • Confidence that your rides are safe and properly inspected
  • A rental package that aligns with your budget
  • A better guest experience and smoother event flow

We’ve compiled a list of adventure ride rental FAQs at the end of this article to further help planners quickly find answers to common concerns.

Question 1: What Rides Work Best for My Event Size?

Knowing what to know before renting adventure rides can save you time, money, and prevent last-minute surprises at your event. Follow our booking adventure ride rentals guide to match rides to your event size, audience, and venue requirements.

Small Events (schools, church carnivals, community picnics)

Climbing walls and trackless trains are excellent fits. The climbing walls allow 2–3 climbers at once and are always crowd-pleasers, while trains can carry 18+ riders at a time. Pairing 1–3 inflatables with one or two adventure rides is often the winning combination.

Medium Events (corporate parties, mid-size festivals)

Most adventure rides work well here—trains, climbing walls, or the Gyro Extreme. For balance, event planners usually add a few carnival rides or inflatables alongside adventure rides.

Large Events (city festivals, fairs)

Adventure rides typically aren’t recommended at large events with 1,000 or more people. While a trackless train may work if there’s a closed, foot-traffic-free path, attractions like climbing walls and the Gyro Extreme have slower throughput and aren’t designed for very large crowds. Any of the rides can work, but expect low throughput.

Question 2: Which Rides Fit My Audience’s Age Range?

Kids & Families

Trackless trains are the standout choice in the adventure ride category. For younger kids, inflatables, mild carnival rides, and midway games are usually a better fit.

Teens & Young Adults

This age group loves the Gyro Extreme and climbing walls. The Face to Face Race adds a competitive twist with the participants looking at each other through a plexiglass wall. The Rock Wall is perfect for group challenges of up to 3 climbers at once.

Adults & Mixed Crowds

Adventure rides can be used by adults, but they often gravitate toward larger carnival rides like the Ferris Wheel or family rides such as the Ballistic Swing.

Choosing the right adventure ride rentals depends on your audience, event size, and available space. What will you choose for your event? Don’t sweat it if you’re still not sure. Keep reading this article and/or call one of our event specialists to help you decide.

Question 3: What Safety Standards and Insurance Are in Place?

face to face race climbing wall

Be sure to ask all necessary safety questions for adventure ride rentals, including inspection schedules and certified operators. At ACP Entertainment, safety is always our top priority. Every ride is inspected before each use and again after returning to our shop. We also employ multiple NAARSO-certified inspectors to ensure compliance and safety.

Event planners should also check with local municipalities about required permits, since ACP Entertainment does not pull permits on behalf of clients for their specific events.

Question 4: What Are the Space and Power Requirements?

Always verify the space and power needs for adventure ride rentals before confirming your booking.

Each ride has unique needs:

  • Trackless Trains: Require flat, smooth surfaces with no hills or heavy foot traffic. Streets must be closed to vehicles if used on roads. Wattman and Carnival Trains run on batteries for 6–8 hours, while the Classic Train runs on gas and is for outdoor use only.
  • Rock Climbing Wall & Face to Face Race: Require about 60 feet of length, clearance from trees and powerlines, and room for the setup truck. The Face to Face Race also needs a power source for its lights (optional).
  • Gyro Extreme: Needs just a 10×10 flat area and power within 100 feet, making it one of the easiest rides to place.

Question 5: How Much Do Adventure Ride Rentals Cost?

Understanding the cost of adventure ride rentals upfront will help you stay within budget while still booking your dream attractions. Adventure rides typically range from $1,600 to $2,250 for a 4-hour rental, plus travel fees. All rentals include trained staff to operate the attraction.

Factors that influence cost include:

  • The specific ride chosen
  • Duration of the rental
  • Event location
  • The best approach is to come prepared with your budget, date, event length, and location—we’ll help create a plan that works within your goals.

Question 6: How Do You Handle Weather and Emergencies?

Most rides can operate in light rain, but heavier rain or lightning requires shutdown for safety. Lightning delays last at least 15 minutes from the last strike.

If weather prevents setup before arrival, ACP will reschedule the event within 90 days at no extra charge, with deposits transferring. We recommend securing an indoor backup option when possible, as some rides (like battery-powered trains) can operate indoors.

Bonus Question: What Support Do You Provide on Event Day?

When you book adventure rides with ACP, you’re not just getting the equipment—you’re getting a full-service team. We handle delivery, setup, operation, and teardown, with staff trained to keep safety first while maximizing guest fun.

ACP Entertainment: A Safety-First Adventure Ride Rental Partner

I’m sure you have safety questions for adventure ride rentals. With over 17 years of experience and 5,000+ events, ACP Entertainment understands how to match the right rides to the right events. From climbing walls to prestigious trackless trains, our team helps event planners choose wisely, prioritize safety, and create unforgettable guest experiences.

How to Choose the Right Carnival Ride Rentals for Your Event Size & Age Range

How to Choose the Right Carnival Ride Rentals for Your Event Size & Age Range

When you’re planning a school carnival, corporate picnic, church festival, or even a large city fair, the attractions you choose will set the tone for the entire event. One of the most important decisions you’ll make is when and how to choose carnival ride rentals that fit your audience, space, and budget. The right mix of rides impacts not just how much fun your guests have, but also how smoothly the day runs in terms of safety and crowd flow. At ACP Entertainment, we’re proud to be the largest and safest amusement ride rental provider in Michigan, offering attractions you won’t find anywhere else—like the only rental Ferris Wheel and Momentum Drop Tower in the Midwest.

Our rides are stored indoors, never left to weather for months on end like traveling carnivals, which means they stay cleaner, fresher, and in better condition. Safety is our first core value, backed by multiple in-house NAARSO-certified inspectors who check every ride both in the shop and again on-site before each operating day. While excitement is the goal, event planners often underestimate how much ride size, space requirements, power needs, and guest age ranges matter in making an event truly successful. Some rides fit neatly into small footprints, while others need more room not just to operate, but to allow for safe setup and teardown. Power is another consideration—venues rarely have the capacity to run larger attractions, so we often supply our own generators as part of our ride rental packages.

If you’re ready to choose carnival ride rentals that are right for your audience, event size, and budget, here’s a step-by-step guide to help.

Why Choosing the Right Carnival Ride Rentals Matters

  • Avoiding the wrong choices – Poor ride selection can lead to underused attractions, disengaged guests, and safety risks.
  • Prioritize safety – ACP Entertainment ensures guest safety with rigorous ride inspections and trained operators.
  • Match rides to the crowd – Choose rides that fit your audience’s age range and event type to maximize budget and enjoyment.
  • Appeal to groups – Offer a balanced mix of thrill rides, family-friendly options, and group-friendly attractions so everyone has something to enjoy.

First and foremost, guest safety across age groups is non-negotiable. ACP Entertainment’s rides undergo rigorous inspections and are staffed by trained operators to ensure every guest has a safe experience.

Matching rides to your crowd is also about making the most of your budget. From toddlers to thrill-seeking teens, every age group has different needs, and that means the rides chosen should reflect the demographics of your event. A school carnival with mostly young children won’t benefit from high-thrill rides like Momentum Drop Tower. Likewise, a teen-heavy corporate family day might not get much use out of a ride like Cruisin’ Classics, which is best suited for younger kids. Instead, a strong lineup should balance thrill rides, family-friendly attractions, and age-specific options.

Guests often attend in groups—families, coworkers, or friends—and the best events give everyone something to enjoy together. For example, the Ferris Wheel, Ballistic, and Phantom’s Revenge make a strong trio that appeals to kids (with height requirements met), teens, and adults alike. A bigger package might include the Momentum Drop Tower, providing a high-energy thrill ride alongside attractions the whole family can ride.

Step 1: Know Your Audience

Carnival Rides for Kids

Younger children need rides that are approachable, gentle, and sized for them. Most of our attractions for kids require a 36” height minimum, though a few, like the Carnival Trackless Train and Spinning Berry, have no requirement at all. These are excellent for preschoolers or families with toddlers.

Other kid-friendly favorites include Cruisin’ Classics, Frog Hopper, Ballistic, Fun Houses, and even the Ferris Wheel when accompanied by an adult. Parents often appreciate when events include at least one or two attractions that little ones can enjoy without feeling left out.

Carnival Rides for Teens

Teenagers are typically drawn to higher-thrill experiences. Popular options include Phantom’s Revenge, Mind Winder, Velocity Super Slide, Cyclone Swings, and the Momentum Drop Tower. These rides deliver the excitement that keeps teens engaged, preventing them from feeling like the event is “just for kids.”

Including a few high-thrill attractions also helps drive attendance among older age groups, ensuring your event has broad appeal.

Carnival Rides for Adults & Families

Adults can ride almost all of our attractions unless a maximum height or weight limit applies. But when planning for families, it’s important to think about rides that can bring groups together. The Ferris Wheel is the perfect example of a family-friendly carnival ride, offering a classic, scenic experience for guests of all ages. The Carnival Trackless Train is another group-oriented attraction that works well in both small and large venues.

Other versatile family rides include Ballistic, Phantom’s Revenge, and Spinning Berry. Together, these create a lineup that appeals to parents, grandparents, and kids alike.

Matching the Best Rider to Rides

The below suggestions are what we feel works best for the different age groups. It doesn’t mean that certain age ranges cannot ride the ride, it just may not be as suited for them.

Kids 3-6 Kids 7+ Teens Adults
Ballistic Swing X X X X
Mind Winder   X X
Cyclone Swing   X X X
Ferris Wheel X X X X
Velocity Super Slide   X X X
Phantom’s Revenge   X X X
Momentum Drop Tower   X X X
Cruisin’ Classics X
Frog Hopper X X
Spinning Berry X X X
Fun Houses X X
Trackless Trains X X X X

X – Rider can ride alone.         X – Rider needs an adult present to ride.

Step 2: Match Rides to Event Size & Space

Small Events (School Carnivals, Church Picnics)

For smaller venues and tighter budgets, compact rides work best. Options like Ballistic, Fun House, Spinning Berry, and the Trackless Train bring excitement without overwhelming your footprint. Pairing one to three of these with a bounce house or inflatable slide can provide a good variety without breaking the bank.

Medium Events (Corporate Events, Festivals)

Medium-sized events often have the flexibility to mix family rides with thrill rides. A package might include the Ferris Wheel, Cyclone Swing, Phantom’s Revenge, and a Funhouse. These events also require thoughtful layout planning—leaving room for food vendors, eating areas, and ride queues is critical to avoid congestion.

Large Events (Fairs, City Festivals)

For large festivals or fairs, big attractions like the Ferris Wheel, Momentum Drop Tower, Velocity Super Slide, and Cyclone Swing create lasting impact. Add variety with Phantom’s Revenge, Cruisin’ Classics, Frog Hopper, and Spinning Berry, plus midway game trailers. ACP Entertainment also helps with logistics—staffing, safety, and planning—to ensure smooth, unforgettable events.

Step 3: Factor in Safety & Compliance

Safety iconSafety and compliance are central to every ACP Entertainment rental. We maintain detailed inspection and maintenance logs for every attraction. We also provide clear signage for rules, height and age requirements.

Our sales team members can help you navigate permits and local inspections, which can otherwise be overwhelming. Weather is another factor—rides cannot operate in moderate to heavy rain or high winds. Our team is trained to monitor conditions and shut down attractions when necessary to keep guests safe.

Step 4: Balance Budget with Impact

Every planner wants to maximize fun without overspending. While inflatables are budget-friendly, they don’t create the same wow factor as mechanical rides. If your budget is limited, consider renting one marquee attraction like the Ferris Wheel or Momentum Drop Tower, then rounding out the lineup with smaller rides or inflatables.

For planners with larger budgets, attractions like the Ferris Wheel, Velocity Super Slide, Momentum Drop Tower, and Ballistic deliver high value in terms of guest excitement and crowd draw.

Step 5: Plan for Flow & Guest Experience

Event layout example with carnival ride placementThe way rides are arranged at your event directly impacts the guest experience. Entrances should be staggered to prevent bottlenecks, and ride queues should be designed so they don’t block pathways or food vendors. For larger events with multiple rides, ACP often provides a layout plan to ensure smooth traffic flow.

A mix of thrill rides and family attractions keeps everyone engaged and reduces downtime between rides. And while not every ride is accessible to every guest, we always do our best to make sure there’s something for everyone when building your event proposal.

Examples of Matching Rides to Events

School Carnival (small budget)

Bounce house, inflatable slide, Funhouse, and Ballistic Swing offer variety while staying budget-conscious.

Corporate Picnic (medium budget)

The Ferris Wheel, Cyclone Swing, and a Funhouse paired with inflatables ensure kids, teens, and adults all have something to enjoy.

City Festival (large-scale)

A lineup featuring the Ferris Wheel, Momentum Drop Tower, Cyclone Swing, Phantom’s Revenge, Cruisin’ Classics, and Velocity Super Slide creates a true carnival midway experience.

Budgeting for Amusement Ride Rentalsamusement ride rental at corporate party

Costs vary depending on:

  • Type of rides (ranging from $1,600 to $8,000 base rates per ride)
  • Event duration
  • Power requirements (generators and power distribution that we have to bring)
  • Location and the cost of travel

Safety Standards for Corporate Party Rides

Safety is not only our first core value, it’s woven into the structure of our operation. ACP Entertainment safety plan consists of the following:

  • Multiple on-staff NAARSO trained and certified inspectors
  • Annual inspections by the State of Michigan
  • In-house inspector on staff that inspects rides after they return from events
  • Daily inspections of each ride by our operators
  • Trained and qualified ride operators
  • Multi-million dollar insurance policy
  • Rigorous maintenance protocol with a zero tolerance policy regarding cracks, breaks or damage that could adversely affect the rides operation

Scheduling and Setup for Maximum Guest Enjoyment

Summer is our busiest time of year, as you can imagine, so it’s best practice to book your event at least 2 months in advance. Many of our customers are booking 6-8 months in advance to ensure the best availability of our attractions.

When your event is booked, we recommend that you leave the layout of the attractions to us-the professionals! We know the best way to layout the rides we are bringing to your event. There are multiple factors that we take into consideration when laying out an event:

  • Power Runs; How far away can each attraction be from the power source and what is the best way to run that power so that there are none or minimal trip hazards
  • How it Looks; What is the best way that we can position the rides to it looks the best to your guests arriving to the event. We don’t want to block the smaller attractions with the larger ones.
  • How it Functions; What is the best practical way to positions the rides so that entrances, exits and the rides features are best shown, or hidden.

Planning an Event While Keeping Risk Management Happy

Planning an Event While Keeping Risk Management Happy

Planning an event should be fun. Booking rides, games, food, music, attractions—it’s the kind of thing that sparks creativity and excitement. Unless, of course, you’re dealing with legal and risk management.

Yes, we said it.

You know who we’re talking about—the folks whose job is to say “no” before you even finish your sentence. The ones who hear “mechanical bull” and immediately imagine someone getting launched through a drywall partition like a cartoon character. Or who see “carnival ride” and assume you’ve personally assembled it with duct tape and dreams.

And hey—we get it. Their job is to ask “what could go wrong?” But here’s the thing: most of what they think could go wrong is based on outdated, misinformed, and frankly overdramatic ideas. So let’s clear the air and talk about how to plan a fantastic event without triggering a corporate panic attack.

Risk management and event planning Large
NAARSO logo

First, Let’s Talk Safety. (Spoiler: We Take It Seriously.)

At ACP Entertainment, safety isn’t just something we slap on a brochure—it’s a full-time job. Literally. We employ multiple NAARSO-certified ride inspectors, even though we’re not required to. We have a full-time, in-house Safety Supervisor who inspects every ride before, after, and between events. And we perform thorough daily safety inspections on every attraction before operation.

We carry millions of dollars in liability coverage, exceed industry standards in maintenance and operation, and have one of the cleanest track records in the business.

In short, if safety were a sport, we’d have more trophies than Michael Phelps.

But… Your Risk Department Still Isn’t Convinced?

Welcome to the club.

Sometimes, no amount of data, insurance, or sparkling safety records will convince a department whose motto seems to be “If fun is happening, shut it down.” So, what do you do if you still want an exciting event but need to avoid giving your legal team heart palpitations?

You give them safe bets—the attractions even the most cautious departments can’t argue with.

Risk-Friendly, Lawyer-Approved Attractions

Let’s call these the “legal-easy crowd-pleasers.” These attractions bring energy and engagement, but don’t involve anyone getting strapped in, buckled up, or bouncing skyward.

Here are the MVPs of low-risk fun:

  • Game Trailers – High throughput, high player count, and high energy. And not a seatbelt in sight. These games are huge, have bright flashing lights, draw a lot of attention and give away awesome prizes.
  • Digital & Arcade Games – Zero liability, all nostalgia. Think PacMan, Pin Ball, Skee Ball and more.
  • Small Carnival Games (Without Prizes) – Fun for the kids, plus no one ever sues over a bean bag toss.
  • Yard Games – Giant Jenga, Giant Connect 4, Giant Pong. Giant fun that’s safer than a company potluck.
  • Mini Golf & Gem Mining – Interactive, immersive, and almost absurdly safe.
  • Photo Booths – Because the only risk here is someone posing too enthusiastically.
  • Casino Parties (Indoors only) – Blackjack, poker, and roulette with no real money on the line? It’s basically just fun math homework in tuxedos (we’re talking those fake tuxedo shirts, actual tux’s are way too fancy).

What About Inflatables?

Some departments are cool with inflatables. Others? They picture chaos, kids somersaulting into each other, and a parade of twisted ankles. The irony? Inflatables are often more risky than rides.

Climbable inflatables can lead to bumps and bruises simply from kids doing what kids do—running, bouncing, crashing into each other like a hundred bouncy balls dropped in the middle of your driveway. Meanwhile, rides are supervised, secured, and controlled. Guests are buckled in, monitored by trained operators, and far less likely to injure themselves from pure enthusiasm.

Still, if inflatables are frowned upon, here are a few examples of non-climbable options:

These inflatables are interactive, but no one’s flying off them or climbing inside. Engaging, exciting, and engineered to keep feet firmly on the ground.

Final Thoughts

Look, we love our friends in legal and risk management (really, we do). But we also love fun, and we believe the two can peacefully coexist. So next time they raise an eyebrow at your event plans, just remember: we’ve got the credentials, the insurance, and the impeccable safety record to back you up.

Whether you’re aiming for mechanical rides (we’ll help you make your case), or you’re stuck planning a zero-risk, fun-filled day that won’t send your compliance team into a tailspin, ACP Entertainment has the attractions—and the experience—to make it happen.

And if your risk department still says “no,” just remember: photo booths never hurt anybody.

Why Planning Your Event on a Weekday May Be the Best Way to Boost Attendance

Why Planning Your Event on a Weekday May Be the Best Way to Boost Attendance

At ACP Entertainment, we’ve started noticing something interesting—and honestly, pretty exciting. More and more of our customers are planning their events on weekdays, and here’s the kicker: their turnout is often higher than expected.

That’s right. While the traditional mindset leans toward planning events on weekends, the tide is shifting—and for good reason. Weekday events might just be your secret weapon for a more successful, more attended event. Here’s why:

1. Less Competition for Time

Weekends are packed. Birthday parties, weddings, sports tournaments, family obligations—you name it, it’s happening on a Saturday or Sunday. That means your event is just one of many on someone’s calendar, and it may not make the cut.

Weekdays, on the other hand, are a lot quieter. With fewer competing events, your gathering has a much better chance of having higher RSVP’s and turnout.

Less-competition-for-time-3
Better attraction and entertainer availability

2. Easier to Secure the Best Entertainment

Booking your event on a weekday opens up a lot more availability—not just for venues, but also for premium entertainment options. Our inflatables, rides, and carnival games are in high demand on weekends, but weekday slots often have much more flexibility and availability. That means you often get first pick of our attractions (just make sure to book early still).

3. Great for Corporate Events

Businesses already operate on weekdays and often your staff doesn’t want to spend one more day of their week at a work function. So why not plan your event during days when your team is already working? You could shorten the work day to have the event or have the event in the evening when their families can attend. We always recommend planning work events where families can come-it’s so much better for morale with when spouses and kids can see where you work and who you work with.

higher guest satisfaction and enjoyment

4. Higher Engagement, Less Stress

When attendees don’t feel like they have to “squeeze in” your event, they show up more relaxed and ready to enjoy. We’ve heard it from our clients time and time again: weekday events feel more focused, more laid back, and more successful—because people aren’t rushing from one thing to the next.

5. It Just Works

We’ve seen the data firsthand. Our customers who plan weekday events often report better-than-expected attendance and stronger engagement throughout the event. Whether it’s a company picnic, church celebration, or school carnival, weekday events are proving to be a smart move.

It Works!

Bottom Line? Don’t Overlook the Power of a Weekday.

If you’re planning an event and want to maximize turnout, avoid schedule conflicts, and get more value for your budget, consider a weekday. It might feel unconventional—but it works. And we’re here to help you make it happen.

Let’s bring the fun to your weekday event. Contact us today to start planning something unforgettable.
